报告人简介：余国巍，南开大学陈省身数学研究所特聘研究员，国家级青年人才项目入选者。2013年在美国明尼苏达大学获得基础数学博士学位，2013-2018年分别在加拿大多伦多大学、法国巴黎九大/巴黎天文台、意大利都灵大学、美国数学科学研究所（MSRI）做博士后工作。研究方向为动力系统，天体力学和变分法。论文发表在相关领域的权威期刊如Communication in Mathematical Physics，Archive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis，Ergodic Theory and Dynamical Systems，Nonlinearity，Discrete Contin. Dyn. Syst等。

报告摘要：Periodic solutions played an important role in Poincare's study of the Newtonian n-body problem. In this talk, we first recall some classical results of the homographic periodic solutions. Then we focus on the recently applications of variational methods in the study of periodic solutions in the Newtonian n-body problem.
